Something something excuse my lack of commitment.
I don't often really have nightmares, or at least dreams I would consider nightmares. I usually only have dreams that have me wake up physically upset and uncomfortable if I'm very sick and having wacky fever dreams. But I had a dream I would describe as making me "uncomfortable" last night.
The dream was less of a story, but more of just. A feeling. Like, it was all dark, like my eyes were closed, and it felt like I was still laying on my bed. Like right before you go to sleep, but it was still a dream, so I couldn't wake up or open my eyes or anything. While I couldn't see anything in the dream, I was able to feel what was going on. Sence it even. Like if you ever pretended to be asleep as a kid and could just hear or feel someone coming into your room a la Gamer Game & Wario.
It was dark, and I was laying on the side of my bed, eyes closed, like trying to sleep within the dream. Then, I could feel someone from behind me slightly press their body against my back, arms on my shoulder, and peering over at me as if checking to see if I was awake. I couldn't see it, but I could feel and understand what was happening, I both knew the situation I was in and didn't at the same time. This later happened again, but I could sense that it was a different person this time. I both couldn't open my eyes and felt as though I was intentionally feigning that I was asleep for some reason.
Eventually, after concluding that I was asleep, I felt one of my arms being raised up, from someone gripping it. I felt hands examining my arms or shoulders, I couldn't remember. I felt something painlessly poking into my arm, presumably a needle, and then, also painlessly, the feeling of something sawing into my arm. At the same time, one of my legs was being picked up and the same thing was being done to one of my toes.
And then I bolted awake. It was 3 am. Curling my foot up and pressing my hand against my armpit, wincing at what happened to my arm and toe in the dream, I fell back asleep. Very surreal. Scary.
